Electives are mid-size groups (10-20+) that provide assimilation and the opportunity to explore meaningful and relevant Biblical topics.  Groups meet during both services on Sunday (9:00am and 10:45am) and at various other times during the week.  You'll not only grow as a follower of Christ, but you'll build a deeper understanding of relevant real world topics as they relate to the Bible.  Valuable friendships can be easily achieved.  To register contact the church office (330) 882-4416.

Getting the Most Out of Romans with Jeff Shirkman

(College & Career Young Adults)

Sundays 9:00am - Conference Room

Romans may be the most important letter you will ever read. It is Paul's masterpiece, the clearest and fullest explanation of the gospel in the Bible. One theologian said that "if a man understands it, he has a sure road opened for him to the understanding of the whole scripture." William Tyndall, the father of English Bible translators, believed that every Christian should learn it by heart. Please join us at 9:00, as we walk through the book of Romans.

Fallen Saints, Faithful God with Andre Clark

Sundays 10:45am - Conference Room

TWhat does God do with fallen saints? Did you know that Abraham believed in open marriage . . . then God’s redemption . . . then He was the Father of the Faithful. Did you know that Moses was a murderer . . . then God’s redemption . . . then he led a nation out of bondage.  Jacob was known as a liar . . . then God’s redemption . . . then he gave birth to the nation known as Israel. God takes fallen people and raises them up to use for His purposes. He takes them to great heights in His service.  If God can take men like Abraham, Moses or Jacob and use them, what could He do with you and I? By studying these fallen saints and many more, their lives will reveal to us how God redeems the fallen to use for His glory.

Fervent: A Woman's Battle Plan to Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer (Ladies of any age)

Sundays 10:45am - Utility Room

Fervent: A Woman's Battle Plan to Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer is a study guide by Priscilla Shirer.  We will be studying ten strategies to overcome attacks by the enemy on: your passion; your focus; your identity;
your family; your confidence; your calling; your purity; your rest and contentment; your heart; and your relationships. If you are tired of losing daily battles, of not being able to forgive a past/present hurt, seeing an in-law as an enemy, a person at work getting away with things yet receiving recognition or any other messy things of life, there is hope. Class limited to 15 ladies. The Fervent Study Guide is $10.

What is Truth? (Men's Study) with Pastor Cary Duckett

Sundays 3:30pm - Conference Room

"What is truth?” . . . Hollywood has made several stabs at answering this question. One of my favorites is from the movie Dead Poet’s Society featuring the late Robin Williams. Mr. Keating (played by Williams) is an English teacher at an elite prep school for boys. In class one day, he asks one of his students to define truth. The student responds, “Truth is like a blanket that always leaves your feet cold. You push it, stretch it, it’ll never be enough. You kick at it, beat it, it’ll never cover any of us. From the moment we enter the world crying to the moment we leave dying, it’ll just cover your face as you wail and cry and scream.” How bleak!

I know it is odd to have a discussion about truth…especially with men. Generally speaking, men say they are to practical or to busy to give this much thought. Most would shrug their shoulders and mumble, “I can’t define it, but I know it when I see it.” Unfortunately, the world isn't seeing men behave like they know the truth.

In our world, truth is distorted, watered down, manipulated and even denied. It can be marginalized, relative or partial, but it is never considered absolute. This presents a real problem for men who want to have the courage and strength of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the truth.” That is absolute.

In this elective, men will look to the Scriptures and discuss the importance of recognizing, knowing and acting on truth. Truth moves beyond what we know in our head to shaping how we make choices and behave in our world. God has given us truth.

The elective is for men. Participants will receive a workbook ($12). Lessons are to be completed prior to each time of discussion. The elective will be limited to 15 participants.

Dave Ramsey's Finanical Peace University with Ray and Dawn Durkee

Sundays 6:00pm - Conference Room

Ray and Dawn Durkee will be facilitating this series on planning your financial future through the Dave Ramsey video series. They have many countless first-hand testimonials of how this program has changed lives, from an elderly widow who turned her monthly checkbook anxiety into an easily managed plan, a college bound participant who made changes that would minimize her college debt, and a couple that paid down debt that enabled them to be prepared for medical hardships they had no idea would be part of their future. No matter your current status in life, this class is for you.  This class will allow you to tell your money where to go, or you will always wonder where it went! Dave Ramsey Weekly assignments will be part of the curriculum.  While small children may not facilitate the best learning environment, please bring older teens who will soon be on their own and making financial choices of their own!

Registration will be handled by e-mail between the facilitators and class members.  The material fee (per family) is $99 and will be collected the first night of class.  In addition to the normal sign-up, a completed “Financial Peace University” registration form is required.
