Kenya...Day 11 & 12

Day 11 & 12

The past two days have been exciting. On Saturday we had class until 12:00 PM. We then boarded a van to travel to Nakuru National Park to go on a Safari. It was supposed to be a 3 hour drive to Nakuru. It turned into a 6 hour drive. We were all humming Gilligan’s Island theme song by the time we arrived at our hotel. Part of our journey was stopping at a vista point to view part of the Rift Valley. The Rift Valley begins in Israel and stretches all the way to southeast Africa. It was a beautiful sight.

The hotel was nice. We each had our own room and private bath. I took the first hot shower I have had since coming to Kenya. It was great! The team was tired and our Safari started early so we all went to bed.

Our Safari started at 6:30 AM. We boarded back into our van and headed into Nakuru National Park. It was amazing! We saw Rhinos, Giraffes, Caribou, Water Buffalos, Zebras, Wart Hogs (think Tumba from Lion King), Baboons and many other creatures. It was a very good day.  We spent about 4 hours riding around the park looking at animals in their natural habitat. Once the Safari ended, we started our journey back to the school in Nairobi. For some reason, it only took 3 hours. Tomorrow, classes will begin at 8:30 AM. Please keep praying for us.
